The University of Sargodha (UOS) offers a comprehensive curriculum for the Final Year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, equipping students with essential clinical knowledge and practical skills. The subjects covered in the 2021 final year include:
- Surgery: This subject focuses on surgical procedures relevant to physical therapy, helping students understand how surgery impacts rehabilitation and the importance of pre- and post-operative physical therapy management.
- Emergency Procedures & Primary Care in Physical Therapy: This course trains students in handling emergency situations in a clinical setting, emphasizing first aid, patient stabilization, and effective response during physical therapy sessions.
- Physical Therapy Treatment & Techniques-II: This is a core subject that covers specialized areas such as cardiopulmonary, neurological, gynecological, obstetrics, and integumentary physical therapy. It includes techniques for treating a wide range of conditions and focuses on supervised clinical practices (IV, V, VI), allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world clinical scenarios.
- Prosthetics & Orthotics, Human Development & Community-Based Rehabilitation: This course involves the study of devices that help patients with limb loss or other physical impairments, alongside human development across the lifespan. Additionally, students explore the importance of community-based rehabilitation programs, focusing on providing care in less traditional settings.
- Exercise Physiology & Health and Wellness: Exercise physiology explores the body’s response to physical activity, focusing on optimizing health and performance through targeted physical therapy interventions. Health and wellness also encompass preventive measures, with an emphasis on promoting overall well-being through exercise and lifestyle modifications.
These subjects provide a holistic education to DPT students, ensuring they are well-prepared for a variety of clinical settings and patient care scenarios.
